Circuit Clerks Office
The office is responsible for filing the following cases: Dissolution of Marriage,
Damages, Injunctions, Condemnations, Adoptions, Juvenile, Paternity, Child Protection,
Adult Abuse and etc. All Adoptions, Juvenile, Paternity, Child Protection and Child
Support cases are confidential and cannot be viewed by the public. The Circuit Clerk’s
office also files cases for criminal felonies, murders, robberies, driving while
intoxicated and possession of controlled substance. Misdemeanors that are bound
over from Associate Court, Municipal Court and Small Claims Court of Appeals are
also filed in this office.
The responsibility for assessing and collecting court cost
falls upon the Circuit Clerk’s Office, as well as retaining files and records on
these costs. Texas County receives some reimbursements from the State of Missouri
for all defendants that are sent to the Department of Corrections but only after
the request for reimbursements has been sent by the Circuit Clerk’s Office. This
office also files Mechanics Liens, Transcript Judgments and Foreign Judgments.
The
Circuit Court has three terms per year which are January, May and September and it
is the responsibility of the Circuit Clerk to see that jury is summoned for these
terms. Names of jury service are put in a computer from a list of persons with drivers
license received from the Department of Revenue. Jurors are then selected by a computer.
